Battery drained over winter storage

What is the right thing to do after letting a battery drain over the winter?
Do I need a new battery or do I purchase a battery charger and try to bring it back to life? If option two is recomended, what is the correct way to charge the battery?

Thanks in advance, David

Problem solved, picked up a new battery and a maintainer for next seasons storage.

would a trickle charge (2 amps) for 48 hours or so not help out a great deal?

You can not trickle charge a dead battery back to life. There are some battery chargers which may bring it to life, but it will never be the same as new. Keep the new one on trickle charge whenever possible.

have an autoparts store charge it or jump and let your alternator charge it.

Your original battery may be ok - but you will need to get it checked on a battery tester at Auto Parts store......before you discard it, and save the new one for later
