Oil Pressure guage went haywire

Got a OBC error yesterday indicating oil sensor failure.
Went off again today. Oil level is fine, but the Oil Pressure guage was going crazy. Pressure at idle was 4 and pinned at 5 while moving. Car seemed to be running fine. Assuming the pressure is fine and it's just the gauge. Restarted it, and the guage was working fine and no errors.

Does stuff like this happen once in a while with these cars? Maybe it's the heat in FL...

Got a temp sensor failure yesterday as well. That seems to be back to normal today.

Should I take it in the dealer or just forget about?

I shudder to think about owning one of these cars out of warranty

Mines doing a similar thing, incorrect readings. It seems worst after the car sits in the Texas sun. I wonder if the in dash electronics overheat? I haven't gotten any error messages though. It seems to fix itself if I turn it off for a minute.

Andrew,

We will find out tomorrow... We are ending up at a Porsche dealer if you have any issues....

Any follow up on this high Oil Pressure issue? Mine is doing the same thing (idle @4.5 and almost maxed out while driving). Oil level is just right at the middle of digital gauge. Anything I should do before I go bug my dealer?

Thanks.

My car is going to the dealer next week for another issue. I will have them look into then. I am wondering if it's not some sort of loose connection as it is still happening, but with no set pattern as to when it happends. I was driving up from Miami to Tampa on Sat and it must have done it at least ten times. The guage just drops to zero and the OBC warns of an oil pressure sensor error. Mine is now idling at 2 and maxed out at 5 as soon as I start rolling.
