Center Dash Component Removal

I've scoured online manuals, 6speed and renntech but I'm failing to find the level of detail I want around how to precisely remove components (AC/Radio/CDHolder/Tray) from center dash area. I'm about to start the Climate Control mod, but I was hoping to find a little more instruction about the trim removal around that area. If figure once I have the trim removed, then removing the components will be easy to figure out.

Can anyone provide more detailed insight into how these trim pieces and side panels come off? I'm sure this is quite easy, but this is my first attempt at prying open this car, so I want to go in more the wise :-). This is for a 2004 996 C2 Cab.

Thanks much!

the horse shoe pops straight out. Start at top of horse shoe with your fingernails under the plastic and pop forward, then work your way around the sides.

The lower console sides pop straight out as well. Start at the rear edge (closest to footwell) of each panel and pop out towards side.

check out my DIY thread, there are some pics of how I went about tackling this mod.
Post pics when done!

A butter knife or spatula work well - start at the bottom of the horse shoe.

Man, this was too easy for all the stress I put on myself. I know there are some great tutorialas out there, but I snapped a few pictures along th way that might help a more cautious/unsure modder out there.

I'll start a new thread with that to compliment what's already out there.

Thanks all for your help!

It's a bit nerve wracking the first time you take those interior pieces off - the amount of force to pull some of the parts would make you think that they'll break. I'm glad you got the project going after all.

pull out the cigarette lighter panal and the other side which has the wiper adjuster. Basically the sides of the horse shoe. They are held in with clips. You will then find four bolts. Remove. Everything comes out all together.
