Thumbs down how do you excatly know the milegae on your car?

I bought my 02 996 C2 last October. It was exported from California. I had no clue how many previous owners it had before it arrive Taiwan I am assuming 2 ~ 3? I know the car went to a 2nd dealership in Taiwan then I know someone bought it and drove it for a year+ or something. Then I got my hands on it. I have been always thinking is my DME correct. I went to 3 porsche shops and plugged the computer. The DME shows 1.5k miles less than my odometer. Currently it's reaching 50000km on it ( 31000miles ) I asked all these shops and they said it's normal for the computer off showing 1.5k miles difference. I still find it fishy. Therefore I kind of bought my car in such a rush which makes me kind of regret now.

1. The odometers can be easily adjusted
2. The DME may be purchase at salvage yard from a totaled car
3. Perhaps someone here can help me check my VIN#
4. Every shop I go they claim the car has no accident before. Who knows?

the mileage is stored in the ecu. i dunno why there is a discrepany between your display and the ecu.

you can chk your vin on autofax.com for a history that includes miles when the car was smogged or traded in owner in US.

i don't think you have a reason to get worried. for accident repair, a good body repair shop can tell you if it's been fixed before or not. look for stickers on engine lid and front trunk hood. if they are there, chances are, you are safe.
