I get about 16 mpg average. Can be above 22 mpg on the highway, 7 mpg on a flying lap, and 10 mpg "canyon carving". My OBC tends to read about 16 mpg most of the time.

The center drive shaft can be disconnected. But, there are 993 (and 997) C2S's, if that's what you really want.

The tail can definitely be broken loose on a standing start into a turn. Maybe that can be carried forward into a burnout? Don't know... too expensive. 295 rear tires made of (better quality) rubber are worth more to me in a corner. =)

 

1) 17 MPG city / 25 MPG hwy; daily driver
2) never tried to do a burnout
3) full time AWD, not switchable

 

weekend warrior, about 18, 19 mpg, no and awd all the time sir. you can do donuts though. ask zookie

 

Buy yourself a C2 instead. C4 is not for you.

 

from my experience:

highway + city driving (fast paced of course) 16miles per gallon
highway road trip (trying get the best mpg possible) i've gotten 27 miles per gallon

2. Are C4S capable of doing burnouts?

yes, but not recommended, lots of stress on the 4wd system, i think zookie or something posted a video before

3. Can the AWD system ever be disengaged? Any software or mechanical parts to be able to do this?

yes, mechanical parts only, i would imagine similar to the TURBO 4wd conversion to 2wd

 

does your 4S come with the wheels or bring your own wheels when you pickup the car

mine is a C4 -- 1999 and i have never disconnected the front drive; although my shop could do it and for them it is a pretty easy thing.

any understeer can be aligned out with toe and camber settings.

i have never done a burnout; but I have spun the car (180; 360; 540; 720)

its mostly a weekend car and track car now

 

2002 C4S - this is pretty spot on. Mine's a daily driver, 16 miles each way, off-on, stop-go. About 17.5-18.5. 28mpg highway when I drive that route 70 mph. 7-8 mpg on track.

 

did a few burnouts with the SC, just to see if it could be done. but the wear on the drive line wasn't worth it. not worth trying with the 4S, still ultra quick off the line and the rears are way to $$ to burn off rubber when not going around a hot corner. good luck.

 

I fill up every 260 miles but sometimes take it to 280 miles per tank. I do mixed highway and city driving. It is my daily driver and probably the best daily driven sports car you can own.

I also spend an average of 2K+ per year to maintain. Includes services & tires. Not including the aftermarket stuff.

Bought brand new in Sept 03' and now has 82,000+ miles on the odometer.

SO... If those are the things that are most important to you I wouldn't recommend the car and I'd look at a normal C2 instead. That said there is a chance those were just three things you were curious about. It is a phenomenal car, awesome presence on the road, unbelievably fun to drive, and handling and speed that sometimes makes you feel more confident than you probably should. Stereo sucks (even with bose) so get ready to roll down the windows and listen to the real music or upgrade. Styling is low key enough that people don't gawk like they would at a lambo but at the same time it makes itself known wherever it goes. I love the car.
