the upgrade path from the 996 c4s isn't a 996 turbo or 997S... it's ferrari time fellas. it's that good.

but of course if you can shoe horn in a 997 GT3 you do what you gotta do.

There was a guy in a red 996 C2 in my run group at Mid Ohio when last there who was every bit as fast as I was and was nowhere near as hard on brakes or tires.

It may be a more expensive car overall but it will hold better value and I may spend less on consumables.

I like the 2002 C4S option however as it seems I may be able to more easily add the GT3 brakes. Otherwise I would just grab a 1999 C2 and call it soup.

It really is an awesome track car. I can keep pace with 997 S's with drivers who are around the same skillset as me. There's nothing like brake oversteer rotation and immediately going to 100% throttle, knowing that awd will pull you out of the corner. I can brake later(bigger brakes than a 996 C2), and accelerate earlier and harder out of corners than can 2wd cars. This is a recipe for > speed. Some people claim that the 200 extra pounds offset the advantage, but I don't think that's the case.

My 2 cents

I'm currently running a 2005 Evo RS. The AWD system has me spoiled and while I crave Porsche style and refinement i am not sure I care to give up the sure footed brutality of the Evo. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Had my 2003 C4S for about 2 years now and absolutely love it. Purchased an extended Warranty to cover (bumper to bumper) for the next 50K miles or 5 years, which ever comes first. I'm not hoping for a RMS leak, but I believe it's covered. Excuse my ignorance, but what does one look for in a RMS leak????? Thanks..
