Says who? According to Porsche PSE provides no gain or loss.

Yes, I too would like to see some dyno evidence of low speed torque loss. I've had a muffler bypass on for years and noticed no change, in fact quite the contrary. It runs like a scalded dog up to red line.

I've never heard about so many people complain about shifting at 3K rpms, these aren't mustangs haha. I'm use to high revving power so I've really never had torque, I'll admit the low end power is nice scooting around town aggressively but oh well.

So what is the best package? Does anyone have the definitive answer? The bypass pipes are weak down low but strong as hell up high. I love it personally but its gotten a little too loud for me recently. I want good sound, lightweight and the same pull up high. Add some downlow torque and thats the ticket. BUT what is the combo????
Im ready to just say F it and go to regular fabspeed mufflers and sport cats......

pOrsch3 is working on some type of muffler with by-pass and lighter too. He is testing it on his car. Maybe we can get the result soon.

Why would the PSE style hack, ala MKII mod bypass, be any different from the real PSE, except for the ability to valve it out? Same diameter pipe, same locations...is the muffler internal actually different? As a relative noob on 996, I would have thought all this kind of detail would have been long worked out by now, considering that the last 996 made is 4 years old! I guess the relative low production numbers mean less people are doing mods compared to other cars. As a 95% street nice weather DD, I'm sure not going to give up any low end torque, for a few HP up high. Makes no sense...especially, as Ray said, Porsche claims no performance difference with the PSE..I'd like the sound, but not bypass loud, just close to PSE loud.

On Rennlist, the posts for PSE hacked are so long with so many member's opinions and I didn't see any much negative on this mod. The amount of members that did the hacked love them and recommended to others. A few old time members with extended knowledge agreed. There is FisherD, a long time member did 2 versions of the PSE hack and even selling them to others on Rennlist.

Yeah I'm interested in seeing the results on this. Sounds like a nice balance for what a lot of people are looking for.

With my friend 997S with PSE against my 997S PSE hacked, the sound is very closely match. At WOT mine is louder.

When I did the pse hack I loved it! Maybe having done headers same time did not help for back pressure resulting in a loss down low. Replaced with fabspeeds= a more refined sound, but disappointingly quieter.
