Recommendations for buying a used 996? (and intro)
Hey all, I'm new here. I signed up for the forums to learn more about the porsche brand and its fine automobiles and to interact with the porsche community.
now, i am a recent college grad (this year) and I am looking to invest in a used 996 as my next car within a couple of years. I wanted to know what the best(better) years for a 996 would be to look into? I know I would like the 3.6L engine and probably a C4S IF possible, though a C2S would be fine by me as well.
If I had a 35K budget, what would you guys recommend if I was looking to buy used in 2009 or 2010 ?
OR
Do you guys recommend something other than a 996 that might be a wiser option?
I'm sure you will need more specifications and such to really pinpoint something, so let me know (I know little about 911's other than they are the epitome of proper sports cars).
I currently own a 2004 Scion xB. I have a decent amount of power, suspension, and random mods on it, and I love driving it.

Buy the newest technology you can comfortably afford, and search the archives in this and other forums. Thats what I did.
Congrats on the degree!
well...lemme first off say that porsches are built like tanks....so your going to have a solid car however old it is, I mean my 996 is 8 years old and it drives like new. I would say with your price range and time period you could look at a very nice 2002-2003 996 which is a 3.6L engine. Go out and drive a bunch and you will know which one is right for you at the right price! Good luck and congrats
