redline on a stock 3.4l

when the motor revs to redline and limiter is reached, how precisely does it stop?

does it stop right at 7200?

mine seems to rev up a little past that. limiter seems to cut it around 7400.

i am wondering if my car has been flashed.

thanks.

In most cars the tachometer isn't 100% accurate, the actual reading becoming less 'truthful' the higher the RPM.

I believe timing is retarded which limits the rev. It's controlled by ECU and ignition sparks.

Most modern engines don't cut fuel and spark until past the redline by a few hundred RPM. My Gallardo was this way.

As stated, tachs (like speedometers) aren't 100% accurate.

there is also a delay on the tach vs the real time engine rpm. The tach is not instantaneous.
