I hear that the 4 cylinder models are doing well - so are the hybrids...

I just put my '99 up for sale and checked similar nice low cars like mine in the country and most were all at around that 30K mark. Any mid 20's cars were high miles or had issues. We'll see what happens.

If you bought your car used and youre worried about depreciation, just think about the poor bastard that bought your car when it was new...that should give you some comfort and help you sleep at night....if that doesnt work, keep in mind that all the hot ladies that you've been picking up ever since you bought your 911 may be interested in you for reasons other than your charming personality.

Very true - most modern P-cars should not be considered investments!

Price-wise though, most will stabilize - if not people would be paying others to take them away.

I bought my 1999 996 with 57K miles for $27K. The car was all original and very well taken care of. Since purchasing I drive it about 3 times a week and it's been a great car. I'm now seeing the 90K+ mile cars in my are in the sub $26K range.

Cars mechanically sound but with some cosmetic issues are below $25K. They are still alot of car for the money.

i have a 996 2000 and have loved it but i think it probably is the red headed step child. but i dont care - remember the 996 was developed when porsche was near bankrupt, the 997 was developed when porsche already became the most profitable car company in the world (ie had open wallet for R&D) yet the 997s prices are dropping fast too....i guess it is all about econ 101 - supply and demand

took this pic the other day.

the amount of money i have lost in depreciation on the silver car is about twice the amount i bought the yellow car for. BUT, it dropped my average 996 cost by like 60k. ha.

maybe if i keep buying 996's as they keep depreciating my average cost will eventually equal a fleet of accords.

A local benz dealer has an 03 C4s for 38760.00 Doesn't have the best car fax history though. For the price it is very tempting.

the slip side is, nothing but a mint 911 will make me or most of us enthusiasts happy. the x-factor is a big no no here and i'd never advise anyone to fetch a 911 with anything but a clean bill of health/record.

i agree. keep looking. plenty of cars around, and the right one will come up eventually.

I'm thinking about buying a 2-owner Seal Grey on Black 2003 C4S, manual, Nav, all options, including painted center and seat backs. Car has 38k miles. Private party is asking $47k.

Is that a fair price?

Should I take the plunge or keep looking? I feel like the prices will come down further, but this is a nice example of a 4S.
