question clutch / flywheel

I have a 2002 996 c2 cab and just replaced the clutch, rel arm, spring and flywheel,$2,500.00. I have noticed the clutch is much lighter than before and the shifter feels sloppy in 1st or reverse gear. If I am moving in 1st gear and go to neutral then try to go back to first it wont go. All the rest of the gears seem fine. The car now feels like it has less snap (power to the wheels) when I downshift and get on it. It does however take off with much less clutch pedal needed. Anyone have any thoughts of what might be the problem?Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Maybe you have multple issues:
1. Air in the clutch hydraulics could help explain feel, but also if the replaced parts are working a lot more smoothly that might be part of it, too.
2. The shift-linkage cables would have had to be remove at the transmission during the clutch replacement, and if these two connections are now loose or were damaged... Do you notice any significant difference in how far the shifter moves forward/backwards or side-to-side? I think that a loose/bad cable should showup in multiple ways.

Thanks for the reply. The shifter seems to go much further forward to get 1st and also pull over more for reverse. the rest of the gearshifts seem fine.
