window issues and airbag light after clutch job at dealer

I got my 99 996 back from a clutch replacement and now the airbag light is on and the passenger window has issues. The passenger window creaks and moans when going up and down. Also the window has a mind of its own. When I lock the doors with the remote, the window goes down partly. The window also does not have the "one touch" operation and does some other crazy stuff.

My car stayed at the dealer for about 2.5 months while I was out of town on business, so I am sure the battery drained. (They had to charge the battery to start my car when I picked it up).Could this have affected my windows and airbag light? My theory is, that if the battery was dead and my window was down, then rainwater might have gotten down into the door and caused the creaking window by starting some corrosion or rust.

I took it back to them today because the clutch wasn't bled very well apparently and my clutch pedal was sticking. So I asked them to check the airbag light and window operation.

I have already just spent $4800.00 with dealer for the new clutch, flywheel, new rms seal, and a new water pump. I hope they don't try to charge me for these additional fixes. Especially, since I think all of them are the result of their work.

To make matters worse, I found paint scraped off one of my painted bumperettes. I am sure it happened on their lot but I have no way to prove it.

Sorry, for the long winded post. I am just a little frustrated right now.

As far as the window goes you should start off by "resetting" it.
Sit in the car, with the ignition switch on, and hold the window "up" for about 15 seconds.

Thanks I did not know about "resetting it". It is already at the dealer. They will probably reset it there and try to charge me for a new window switch and a flux capacitor (both very pricey to be certain) + labor.

If you feel like you've been shorted don't be shy to talk to a supervisor/manager about it.
Customer service is usually pretty good at dealerships - at least around here.

You paid a pretty penny for the work performed and few customer comps would be the right thing to do. If your not satisfied, or feel you were not taken care of approprietly by the dealership, by all means find who's in charge and bend his/her ear. They should stand behind their work.

When the stealer had my 996 in for an $8 sunroof clip (with $300 of labor attached to it) they scratched the hell out of my car. You gotta get on 'em and stay on 'em and sooner or later they will do the right thing. The internet has shifted the balance of power a bit to the consumer

Re: problems

From a mechanics standpoint and one who knows that some places do not deserve your business, most of your complaints probably have nothing to do with the repairs you had done. The window regulators are a very common failure for your car and from the noise when going up/down that is probably your problem ( not really their fault ). Airbag light on is also a very common failure and is more a Porsche problem than the Dealer's fault ( would not be surprised if you get new buckles, harnesses, and control unit to fix that problem). The clutch does not get bled as part of the clutch replacement, but should be bled with the brakes every 2 years per the factory maintenance schedule. Scratch on bumperette (well I really do not recommend leaving a car for 2.5 months...**it happens) but they should take care of this one. On the other hand $4800 for those repairs you had done, that is why they call them stealerships.

Keep me posted,
