Feeler- So what would you guys think about CF tip sleeves that fit over the S tips? I'm talking to someone local in SoCal about possibly making me a set.
Raffi- Brian has the powdercoating hookup at a decent price, give him a shout. I was thinking that direction as well but thought the CF might look cool too.

perfect after 1500 mi., summer heat, etc. my powdercoat guy said has never had a problem with tips because they are far enough away from the heat. seems he was right (at least for my car and stock set-up)

^ Brian is the owner of www.afterhoursautomotive.com - He makes the sport pipe mufflers for 996/997. The guy's a total genius with fabrication of race car parts, particularly exhaust systems, turbo systems and other special one-off needs like body panels or roll cages. He made a CF lid for my 996 console armrest and OMG it looked like a machine made it. Flawless.
He also did the top vent cutout and screen mesh on my 996 GT3 bumper, plus a fiberglass inner nose reinforcement.
Very nice guy, not overpriced at all on his work. Number is on website and his shop is located in San Pedro area. Tell him Kurt referred you.

avoid the places where there is a showroom with samples and a person who has never powdercoated anything and quotes you extremely high prices out of a book. most powdercoat places do a lot of flat black on fencing, railings, etc. hunt around and you may find a place like i did who is willing to "throw a couple extra pieces" in while doing their large jobs for next to nothing.

Fabseed does powdercoated tips, albeit a little pricey. I think $450...but they look great! I'm getting them next week

I had them do my headers in high temp coating for my Camaro, and they quoted me $70 to do my Porsche tips in their black satin coating.
$450? That is a stupid price.
