I have a set of 997 C4S Lobster Forks 67mm offsets in the rear and I bought a set of 305/30/19s and when I had the tech try and install them they wouldn't clear the suspension/ control arms in the back; there was almost a 1" gap between the back of the wheel and the hub. I saw others running 305s on NB cars and thought they would fit. I thought I might have gotten some probs in the front of the tires from the 305s rubbing but not the backside. I can drop back down to 295s if needed, bit I am curious how others were able to run 305s? Any suggestions?

The orig 18s were 10" with 65 offsets. The 19s are 11" with 67mm offsets. The offset calculator says I have 15mm less rear clearance and extend 11mm more in the front. Although the 305s are 10mm wider than the 295s, they are barely 5mm taller.

So I need two rear 19x11 Carrera Classic wheels with 67 offset to fix my probem.

Assuming the worst case scenario of having to purchase them from a dealer, how much should I expect them each to cost?

Thanks!

Thanks for helping me get my problem sorted out.

I am going to call the Porsch dealer tomorrow to get pricing of two rear 19x11" wheels with the 67 offset. If the price is too high, I will just order a complete set from wheeldynamics.com and resell my OEM set on Ebay.

The good news is I get to keep my new 295/30 Pirelli tires, which make the car look killer from behind.

Thanks Again!

Mike- My 19x11 lobsters are 67, and I'm running 15mm spacers. So, 52 offset total- and I still have better than 4mm of clearance. 295/30 tires. Odd, the 51 offset should fit by my calculations.
** [EDIT] - wait, you have 996 (brain fart), sorry, 51 is in fact too much offset for the 11" rim on your car. [/EDIT]

Don't buy wheels from the dealer and pay top dollar if you can avoid it- look on ebay for some take-offs if possible. If you do talk to the dealer, at very least contact Sunset Porsche in Oregon. They sell parts at cost. I picked up a full set of lightly used lobsters from a 6speed member for $1k plus ship, not a mark on them. That is the typical going rate. As a matter of fact, I think cayenne_ksa has a set sitting around in his garage.. shoot him a pm.

Yeah...but cut him some slack....he THOUGHT that they made wheels in a size..Carrera size....didnt realize that what "fits" to one person does not work for another and its VERY subjective. Yes the best thing to do is ask ALOT of questions....when I was looking for my wheels the fitment I liked the best was the 996 GT3 wheels....so I got as close to those offsets as I could.....

I know a very good shop in Signal Hill off Cherry Ave (near Costco) - EF1 Motorsports
www.ef1motorsports.com - Call and ask for Fab, really nice guy / very knowledgeable / not expensive (fair prices). He has done suspension installs and GT3 street alignments on my 996 and 997 cars. Tell him Kurt referred you.

01 C4 NB can take 305s on the back.

I have 997 turbo wheels with correct NB offsets and running 305s on the rear....a little bit of fender rolling and maximize negative camber....and thats all it took.
