Front Door Speaker Mounting Depth

Looking to replace the door speakers with some Boston Pro 6.5's.. Has anyone installed these or similar in an '02 ? Mounting depth is about 2 3/8.. Just didn't want to order them if the enclosure was too shallow.

Also, has anyone used the Car Audio Innovation rear panel enclosures? Wondering what size drivers they use and if the bass is sufficient..
Thanks,

Are you referrring to the sub enclosures that sit on the floor behind the seats? If so, I have them from Car Audio Innovations and they are 8" Earthquake subs. I'm not sure if Ros will make them in the 10" size due to fit. I think they provide plenty of bass, but then again I upgrade the AMP, headunit and all speakers in the system. Here is my post with my audio install.

Rob,

I just bought the Kenwood 838 bluetooth head and a pdx amp. The rear enclosures I heard about were actually built into the rear speaker locations (with mods, obviously). It was mentioned on Rennlist a while back. I believe they were using 6.5 in subs. I've seen the box behind the rear seats, and lean towards that route, but like the idea, if the bass is sufficient, of adding sub enclosures to the rear factory speaker locations. I have no idea what it looks like in there, though I've heard the stock rears are similar to the dash speakers.
I'm also still trying to determine if a 2 3/8 mounting depth will fit the door enclosures.

Thanks,

Gotcha. I can't imagine you'd have much bass response from those filler speaker locations. Having good filler sound is a plus for a dynamic audio experience. My suggestion (if you have a cab) is to go with floor subs .. otherwise a rear deck sub(s) for a coupe.

Good luck!

I have infiniti kappa perfect 5.1's in my doors and the manufacturers specs says its 2 1/4" mounting depth. I had to dremel the enclosures to make them a tad wider for the speaker rims to fit in though.

If anyone wants them, I have a spare set of fully intact speaker enclosures out of a 2003 C2 with Bose. PM me with a fair offer?
