First CEL

my car threw a check engine light today. first one i've ever gotten. (never had one in by boxsterS.) need to hook up the durametric diagnostic tool and see what the car is complaining about. i'm gonna bring it to the dealer in any case, as it's still under CPO warranty. let's just hope whatever it is is covered.

If it's a solid CEL, no worries. If it's blinking - you should have it towed. My bet is a P0420/P0430 code. Or some other emissions related code maybe O2 sensor.

Keep in mind - if it is your Cat, they should be warrantied for 8yrs/80K - regardless of the CPO.

thanks for the encouraging words guys. it's a solid CEL. if it had been blinking, i definitely would have had it towed to the dealership immediately.

if i get around to reading the code tonight, i'll update this thread with more info.

the CEL was a misfire. but they've discovered that the RMS has gone out again. this makes *three* times. i've started the phone calls to porsche cars north america. even though the repair will be (and has been) covered by warranty, i want it fixed for good even if it means a new engine.
