Q: Run w/o Belt to check noise?
Q: Run w/o Belt to check noise?
hey,
quick question.... I need to know for sure (no guessing please) if I can run the engine w/o the belt on the pulleys for a minute to help me know if one of the pulleys is the cause of my squealing sound....
This is the pulley I suspect of having a bad bearing but I am not sure it is the cause of what I am chasing down so I want to run w/o it and see if my squeal is there or not

Thanks a bunch!
Ed

One of the other tricks is to use a long screwdriver or pry bar to listen for the sound from each pully. Simply place the metal end on the center of the pully, put the other to your ear. You can hear a difference between a good pully and a bad one.
BTW - that is a really clean motor!
