Anyone else have the paint peel off their interior door pull

My graphite grey paint on my interior door pull on my 03 996(the giant C shaped thing that you use to pull the door closed) started to peel. I thought the part was leather apparent it's softtouch painted.

I'm going into the dealer tomorrow to complain, I had the same thing on the map pocket back on my boxster. It better be covered under warranty since according to another dealer I called the part is about $325 bucks, strangely the carbon fiber piece is only $270 bucks, but I would need two to have a set if I went the carbon fiber way.

Personally I want the warranty to cover it so it would help if I knew if this was a common problem.

Thanks,
Corey

Should be warranty item....and yes, it's soft-touch paint (actually it's rubberized coating).

Is this the same paint that is on the lower part of the e brake also? Mine is a little scrapped. If so, is it possible to buy the paint and touch up? Thanks for the info Eric.

Most of the interior plastic has this coating. No touchup available.

Good news... Just got back from the dealer and it is covered under warranty.

Apparently this is common with all the faux soft touch "painted" parts.

I hope they fixed this in the 997 with all that silver paint

A question for Eric, do you get a lot of people painting parts "silver" for this reason? Just curious, because as these cars age, this will be more common for cars not under warranty anymore.

Cheers,
Corey

P.S. The only bad part is the dealer tells me trim parts take forever to arrive from porsche

We do them all the time - not so much due to age or damage, just an overall look the owner is trying to achieve. Some want more silver in the car, some want less. But we have painted nearly every interior part other than leather and carpet, and are happy to provide this service!

Great to hear you're covered!
