Yep, the shop said it was a blown mass air flow sensor. I'm on my 4th one.

WOW.....I am stunned by your post......I had installed an AEM dryfilter in my K&N CAI and as of yet no problems. A little over 1000 miles , a lot of it hard driving, and no CEL light.

An interesting read is the article on the K&N website on MAF malfunctions. Their conclusion is worth a read if you are so inclined.

I would be interested to know the Fault Codes that were thrown if you know them?

Palma-

You gotta link to that article? I am bringing by the shop again tomorrow and they are gonna check out all the other possible malfunctions. Apparently the MAF code could also be a number of other things, so we shall see.

Bob, I installed the CAI I bought off you tonight - install was easy and it fit like a glove..I had a flawless transaction with you and thank you again for the kit.. unfortunately I guess my car is one of the unlucky ones because within the first 5 miles it threw a CEL.. I was wondering if anyone knows if the MAF is blown now? I will hook up the OBII tomorrow morning and see what code it throws. whats a MAF cost nowadays?
thanks

Me too

i wanted to know the same thing if my MAF was shot. Someone told me that it was in this forum, but my car has no problems. I idle fine and the cars run perfect. I dont want to buy a new MAF and for it to happen again. Does K&N warranty these CAI for damaging MAF? i think i read some where that they gurantee no sensor problems

Omarresto.. what code came up? and have you reset it? I found out where I went wrong with my install.. I installed the MAF backwards which immediately (within 5 miles) threw a check engine light.. this morning I found out (with the help of fellow member Porsche Tech) that I had the MAF in wrong.. I reset the CEL and so far so good. ..knock on wood

Yeah, the little opening on the MAF needs to face left. My engine code came on after a few days. You may be lucky adn not have that problem. Since it was used the amount of oil on the filter maybe minimum and not affect your MAF. My CAI was brand new and probably dipped in oil at K&N prior to shipping. Im at least happy that you dont have any issues. How do you like the difference in performance? I really like it thats why I dotn want to take the CAI out.

thanks- honestly though, its too soon to tell, I only had it on since last night after work- I like the sound for sure- I took it for a spin this morning on the freeway after resetting the CEL and swapping the MAF and all was good- hard to tell any performance gains but I do believe their claim of increased horsepower.. I'll report back after a few more days of driving.

I got a different code but i dont remember but hey I can pull the code anytime as Im driving witht he engine light on as we speak . I think you got that code because the amount of air that was rushing in the MAF was low when it was in backwards or if it was blocked compared the amount of air that rushes in on a clean MAF. Is that your F-Car?
