Nothing worse than the sound of rim on curb....
I never got mine fixed after damaging the painted finish (I had the painted high polish turbo twists). The only people I could find to repair those were in Cali and they wanted $250 per wheel plus shipping. With no extra wheels, I would have had my car out of service for a couple of weeks, and that was unacceptable for a cosmetic fix. I considered the damage battle scars.
I had a blowout at 70 mph on the left rear (hit a bump from a repair in the the pavement at redline in 2nd while on the verge of powersliding and separated the tire from the rim...) and the second time was from hitting a really dirty curb in Boston in the winter that stuck out into the road while I was trucking along through an intersection. I just didn't see it...
I drove that way the next day and still had a hard time seeing where the curb was!

If you get the guys to refinish your wheel, make sure you clean the inside of the rim before they do it. I had it done, and it looks great, but when they sprayed the clear on it they also painted much of the inside of the rim sealing the brake dust to the rim. Looks permanently dirty now.
