Got my 996 back from spoiler painting, but still needs wet sanding in 2 weeks
I will post pics in the next few days of the midnight blue GT3 wing on my 996... but nothing too upclose until the wet sanding is done.
There are a few minor imperfections that you can only see from certain angles and they said they need to wet sand them out, but want to let the paint set for 1-2 weeks. So I will bring it back in 2 weeks, then post close ups.
I sorta was expecting this as midnight blue is a "weird" colour and I figured it would need buffing or wet sanding even before I had picked it up, that's why I had them install it even though it's only 4 bolts so they can do everything perfectly. They even touched up the paint on the bolts so it looks factory.

Yes, I believe they did bake it. I was told for best results wait 1-2 weeks. The imperfections look like a fleck of dust or something in the clear coat that need to be knocked down(if that makes a difference to the time) and they want the paint as hard as possible.
One more thing... I'd post a pic of the spots, but I doubt they could come out in most photos, they are barely noticable except at certain angles and as my wife keeps reminding me I must have OCD about my car the way I fuss over it.
The imperfections or flaws, are common. Nibs show up on all automotive refinishing, usually just specs in the clearcoat. Light sanding and buffing takes out 90% of them. Don't sweat it.
We just did a GT wing and it took quite some time for the finish work, longer than most, due to the curves and precise nature of the end result.
