A little help on a C4S please...

Hello, guys and girls I’m new to the forum. I’ve been on the market looking to purchase a 996 C4S. I just wanted to know if there are any common problems with these vehicles when I do take a trip to a dealer to take a look at a few that I have found. I haven’t owned a Porsche yet but have had a few M3’s and an M5. I also see that the value has dropped on these vehicles considerably lately, I’m sure its they are going to hold there value now since they were only made for 3 years. Anyways if you guy/gals can give me any tips or advice on what to look for and what to avoid it would be much appreciated. There is one in particular that im going to take a look at next week. It’s a 2002 with approx 37,000 miles on it at a private dealer. What would be a good price for this year and mileage?
Thanks in advance, hope to join the family soon -Harry.

In california, I'm sure that a dealership would list that at $45k+... more if it was CPO.

The actual selling price would probably be in the mid-high 30s CPO'd from a Porsche dealership, or low to mid 30s from a non-Porsche dealership.

sorry, I don't know if those accurately reflect what Porsches sell for in PA

+1 to above posts.

I'd say high 30's if there is a CPO or some type of ext warranty. Just think I paid >45K less than a year ago for the same car.

As Im sure your research has already shown you - the C4S is already pretty loaded up, big red brembos, sport suspension, and full leather interior... the other options are totally up to your taste - but most have the Bose uprated stereo and many have the sports seats (I wish I did).

Look for all the records since the car was new without gaps. Also, if the RMS has been replaced - that's ok - don't let it deter you. Best of luck!
