996 alarm / locking question

can the car be locked with the key without arming the alarm at all.

i know this sounds simple but im just not seeing it in the manual. and when i lock the doors manually with the key the alarm arms.

TIA

No, the car is armed when locked not unless you pull fuses and that might just disable the starting feature of your car.

If you press the locking button on the key twice rapidly, it will lock the car and arm the alarm, but not activate the internal motion sensors, if that is what you are trying to accomplish.

actually i must have a fault somewhere, because the alarm sounds like ten minutes to two hours after i arm it everytime. so until i get that solved i just wanted to be able to lock car without alarm on.
