GT3 shifter installed

So today I finally got to installing a 2004 GT3 shifter in my 01 996. Nice to have my son making the job go smoother than it would have.
The verdict;
Def a much smoother shifter but it is not shorter in any way as far as I could tell. Both shifters have low miles on them, mine 20K and the 04 approx 8K.
Anyways no real regrets as I got it for $100 and it is better than my original. If one is looking for a shorter throw the 996 GT3 is not it.
In the process I did discover the coin holder I never knew I had

There is the 997 GT3 shift counsel that fits our 996. I am thinking of switching from a B&M short shift kit to it.

The throws are a bit shorter than stock, but it has a machined bushing instead of the plastic one. It isn't cheap at $340, then again it isn't very expensive either...

more short shift blues.....?

I still do not understand why some of you are having issues with the B&M SSk.......mine is flawless and cost is low and install was easy. No notchiness and shifts like a dream.
I do not understand why you have to spend more money to get the same result

sorry it is almost a bimonthly scratch my head perplextion....

Yoops, you must be one of the lucky ones whose B&M isn't notchy. Mine is and after numerous adjustments still is. I'm looking at the 997 upgrade.

What is the differnece between 997 GT3 or the porsche 997 SSK?
I know a 996 GT3 is just like stock in travel distance but much smoother and that could be because it's just newer...

I guess I am lucky - it has no notchiness what so ever.
