2001 Cab rear power window help

The REAR (triangular) driver's side power window has stopped working on my 911 Cabriolet. I can hear a faint grinding type noise somewhere within the mechanism that moves the window. I can also hear the power going to the mechanism, so I don't think its the micro switch. I have accessed the mechanism through the rear panel, but do not see how to pull it out to inspect it.

How do I pull this mechanism out to fix or replace it?

Any other thoughts are appreciated as well.

Yesterday, after putting my top up, I noticed that the rear passenger side window was only half way up. I tried to raise it completely but it wouldn't go up so I tried lowering it; after it went down completely, it wouldn't come up at all.
The rest of the symptoms are those described above.
How can I check the mechanism(remove the panel) and possibly fix it. I would like to try to fix myself instead of giving my mechanic an early Christmas bonus .

I had the same problem with my car, except it was the passenger side rear quarter. Needed a new window regulator. The part number was 99654301606. Cost approximately $550 for brand new part and approximately $250 labor.

I checked and that's exactly the cost . I also found a NY-based company that repairs yours for $140 or sells a rebuilt one for $440 ($70 refund when you send a core), both with a 60 day warranty.
