Interior Colored trim accents
Interior Colored trim accents
So I was taking the interior apart for among other things to paint the ***** on the door pockets, the shift lever, the door openers, and any other thing in the 996 that is already aluminum colored. I planned on just painting it aluminum with some clear coat, but then I thought, why not paint them some other color. So, any thoughts, opinions, etc. I have a black cab with black leather.
I'll start, I could paint them all black, or a metallic grey. And just so we keep this focused, no pinks, yellows, or greens.

Here's an idea... do a silver or white base with a pearl or semi-transparent metallic. You'd have to try it on a few test pieces to get the combination you like, but a semi-transparent metallic carbon grey would really pop over an aluminum base or a navy blue semi-transparent over a white pearl base... or a blood red.
It gives a very deep color that changes with lights and reflections and would be a little more original than a solid color.
Just an idea...

hmmmmm, silver with a pearl metallic. That sounds nice. Already have the silver paint, now to find the pearl and try it on some test material. I'll take pics when its done. I'll try the metallic gray as well and see what turns me on. Thanks. BTW, a little steel wool works great on roughing up the surface for paint and clear.
Regarding taking the lids off: I just unscrewed the top part of the lid from the bottom part that holds the lid onto the door and used a highlighter and some effort to push off the oval pieces. See pics. The arrows point to where I applied pressure with a fat highlighter. The plastic cap prevented the pen from slipping and further did not scratch the surface.
