A few questions about the car in general.
A few questions about the car in general.
I am currently thinking about purchasing a new 911 Carrera S (or cayman S, but more likely the 911). I am wondering for those of you who use your 911 as a daily driver how is it? I plan to put on 15k miles a year. What are the common problems if any within the first few years? How much on maintenance should I expect to set aside? How well do 911s hold up after 100k miles? I haven't talked to my insurance yet for a quote, but I am wondering how much should I expect if my insurance on my 07 I350 is $4.5k a year. Also what were the reasons that you chose to get a 911 over a cayman?
You pay $375 a month for insurance? Big price diff between a new 911 and a Cayman. I have seen nearly new Caymans going for around 30k. A new 911S is going be 3x that amount. If you buy new you won't need to set anything aside for maintenance. It would be covered under warranty.
ive gotten insurance quotes ona clean driving record on 996TT 01-04 down into the 1250$ range for 6month for a 24 year old non tickets with pretty well maxed coverages with farmers insurance and esurance had similar results
Mines a daily driver as well. I have a funny feeling that the majority of this cars problems result from letting it sit for extended periods of time. I have driven mine a little over 50k in the 3+ years I've owned it, and my only real problems have been expected maintenance issues..... and tires. Function's right, drive the thing if and when you get it!
I've been using my 2003 cab as a daily driver for almost one year (12K so far) - with far fewer problems than any other vehicle I've owned in 15 years.
My last car was a new STS-V - this is a much better experience with less than 10% of the downtime. FWIW, I travel a lot on business and have no time for maintenance issues - I bought it from a local Porsche dealer (Princeton Porsche) and although they're a little pricey for doing normal work (shifting from snow tires to summer tires, for example) - the service is extraordinary. It's a CPO car (16K on the odometer when I bought it) and they give me no hassles when dealing with life's little problems (noisy A/C pulley? No problem - loaner Porsche and new compressor installed in ONE day).
If the local Caddy dealer treated me that way, I'd be driving a CTS-V and missing out on what has proven to be a better in-the-seat experience of anything outside of a ****pit (when I was a naval aviator).
I'll be trading the 03 cab in next year for a CPO 997 cab. Maybe turbo if I can get the right deal.
