MAF replacement

I need to replace the MAF -- dealer did readout for CEL and found code P1126 -- "Read out fault codes, fault P1126 present. Checked actual running values of oxygen sensing adaptation, found adaptation values just over threshold to trigger check engine light. Mass air flow sensor is the cause of this fault."

We reset the CEL and I drove for three weeks to see if the CEL would come on again -- which it did in regular driving yesterday. The dealer wants $500+ to do the replacement (including the part).

Is this a simple plug and play item where it's worth the savings to get the part from Suncoast and install it (in my case having my regular mechanic for my other cars, a Mercedes guy, do it), or should I just have the dealer do it?

Does anyone have a photo of where the MAF is or a parts diagram?

Thanks!

You need a "security Torx" size 20 tool, and about 3 minutes to do the MAF change!

Unscrew 2 security torx screws that hold down the old MAF, insert the new MAF, and screw back down.

Enjoy!

Buy it at Pelicanparts.com. It's a Bosch unit...same as the Porsche part without the Porsche box....much cheaper. I believe it's a little over $200... for E-gas. Simple DIY.

The MAF sits on the tubing of the air intake. It is one of the easiest parts to get to on the car. Maybe put in a CAI while you are at it....
