Engine noise on cold start

Hey all,

Today I noticed a clicking, or ticking, sound when I started my Cab. (It was not a bomb) The outside temp was about 40 degrees and the car had been sitting since the night before. The noise stopped after about 1 minute. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this same issue and what was done to resolve it?

At this point, I feel like it is a lifter noise. Any thoughts on if this could be caused by a bad tank of gas (I know the car is suppose to retard the timing if the fuel is of a lower octane and thus avoid "pinging").

Thanks for the help.

Hydraulic valve lifters sometimes need time to pump up with engine oil. More so when it is cold or you have a heavy weight oil.
