2003 C4S - Metal Particles in oil filter

Just got car back from Powertech. They checked the rms, flywheel, clutch, chain tensioners, tensioner rails, and IMS bearing. All were in good condition. Replaced/upgraded the 3 tensioners and IMS bearing since they had it apart. Replaced the oil pan with a deep sump oil pan. Replaced plugs and ignition coils. Upgraded oil filter with a spin-on kit. Upgraded thermastat with a low temp T-stat 160. Upgraded air intake with a K&N system and modified software using upsolute-p. Car runs great. Still not sure where metal fragments are coming from? Any ideas where to look next or should I just consider this as normal engine wear and not be concerned?
If you find more metal, especially if it is ferrous, that can be a sign of pending IMSB failure.
Engines continue to shed metal as they are used. It decreases over time but does not go to zero.
Also, anytime the engine is opened up, even if it was the oil pan being dropped and replaced, this can cause a bump or increase in the metal the engine sheds.
The few engines with IMSB I've heard run do not sound any better cold to warm to hot. The IMSB makes for a sick sounding engine.

Blackstone analysis
Just get the Blackstone kit and get the analysis done. It will tell you which kind of metal there is in the pan - if there is any -. That will narrow down the possible problem. Good luck !!

I posted on my experience with replacing the IMS with L&N parts. I did mine soley as a precaution. Seemed cheap compared to an engine. I would be concerned about the noise. Ive heard that is a symptom. My IMS bearing was fine when pulled. The new one is so much beefier I'm glad I did it
your symptom seems to be consistent with other reports of IMS failure. sounds as though you took care of it, with other goodies as well. Not sure where metal would now be coming from, but if there are still suspicious noises dont drive the car until the issue is diagnosed correctly. and good luck...
