There are lots of things you can do on your car but i would not recomend replacing the convertible top your self.

It is time consuming (we usually figure around 10-12 hours start to finish), there are a few bits that need to be bonded with special 3m glue and let sit before continuing. Some special tools and there are a BUNCH of little tricks you need to know to get the top to fit right and particularly getting the sail panels nice and tight without any sags or wrinkles, esp on glass window top or glass window retrofit for early models. Getting the cable tension correct is super important for the canavas fit as well as affects how the top lock latches to the frame on closing.

its only a few thousand to get it done professionally. dealer is the way to go imo on this. if you go to an upholstry shop, make sure it's a reputable one that will warranty their work. lots of rattle often need to be fixed after replacement.
