speakers - components to coaxials?

After removing the speaker grilles in my car, I found out that the PO had installed Boston Acoustics 4" Components. I googled it and it seems that these are old models from the '90s. I'm not that happy with the sound but don't want to invest in new expensive components. I drive my car mostly with windows open or top down, therefore, the sound of the headers & open-valved PSEs sound sweeter anyway. Therefore, I am thinking of something that are not that expensive in the less than $200 range per pair. I am thinking of switching them out to Morel or Focal 4" coaxials. Given the general thought that components usually sound better than coaxials, would you guys think that premium coaxials would yield better SQ over older technology components?

BTW, as usual, I'm buying replacement speakers without listening to them basing everything on reviews. Reason? Speakers sold here are all crap and I have to order the good ones online without ever listening to them.

Thanks for any opinions.

Well, with 5.25s, my speaker options are greater. I already have a McIntosh 4-channel amp that I do not intend to replace with anything else.
