Perhaps is a good idea getting a dash in poor condition. It wouldn't matter since it will be reupholstered anyway with alcantara. And, in this way I can keep the original which is nice just in case.

I have a 99. I read some notes on changing dash to an 02 but did not find what other pieces are needed to do the conversion. Maybe this is the way to go.

Paint looks great, I have started this same process on my car as well. I am not sure if I will keep going though just because I am pretty happy with it now.

Therefore, until I see some pics of this painted strip and how they contribute to the overall look of the dash, I don't think I would do it.
I thought I remember seeing a "write-up" somewhere (6-speed or rennlist) on changing out the "dash strips" without destroying the clips. You might want to research more before making a decision on them, just a thought.

Also, to the OP, very nice install and look. How'd you get such a great looking "faceplate/bezel surround" for the double din stereo? Was it part of the package deal from "euromotorspeed" on ebay that you mentioned? TIA for the help!

Thanks, I shall do more research on the dash strips. And yes, the bezel is part of the double-DIN kit from said ebay vendor. He is also a member of 6speed and occasionally posts on here.

I couldn't find him either. My experience with the guy is if he is out on a trip or something, he pulls out all his ebay listings. But as soon as he is back online, I will let you know.

Seriously absolutely beautiful!

Listen I was looking at the pics of your int. and noticed your nav. screen, that's not OEM is it?
I'm looking to get something similar done and really like your set up what type of nav. do you have and how do you like it.

Cheers,

Sid.
Hi Sid. Thanks for the comps. The nav screen you saw in my interior is actually a Kenwood double-din headunit. It doesn't have nav as we don't have nav in my location. But there are plenty of double-din options that includes nav. I went with Kenwood due to the fact that the button illumination can be matched with the dash lighting. Pioneer too have similar features but I prefer the non-glossy faceplate of the Kenwood.

It's like a really hot looking chick, it didn't happen by itself...it took work!
I find it inspiring when I see guys whom have taken time, money and passion to create something unique.

I'd love to see some more pics of the exterior, you have an album or something along those lines?

BTW here's some shots of my int. did the red upholstery myself (not in the seat back though nor painted parts).
It was a tossup between silver or red...guess which way the coin fell.

Cheers,

Sid.
Very nice, Sid. That is a very custom looking interior! I have an album somewhere but it's not that organized. But, as you requested, here are the latest pics. They've been posted in some other threads but here they are again.

Up and coming is a 3rd brake light cover in black to replace the LED right below the softtop, a blacked-out lamin-x for the 3rd brake light on the aero wing, a tinted lamin-x for the headlights. Also budgeting a new park brake lever with the silver trimming and "PORSCHE" logo on it. Thought of switching out some interior parts for carbon fiber for a silver/CF combo, but most of my mod budget just went into my Cayenne Turbo.

BTW, where did you get the steering wheel and how much, I'm looking for a 3 spoke in silver or possibly CF.
The paint on my car is still the original factory paint. I don't know what my body shop used for the front bumper and aero wing, but the car still has to go back for extra buffing on those two parts as they are actually still a bit orange-peel-wavey.

I got the steering wheel from Edwin of Precision Porsche. He said it used to be the steering wheel on his personal car. It was originally a CF wheel but he painted it in silver for me. I recall the cost to be around $1,300 including the airbag. Since you already have the airbag on your 3-spoker, I recall seeing on Suncoast a brand new OEM silver steering wheel for a grand without the airbag. You should check it out. You can even paint it in red, if you'd like to.
