Tire Foam to replace spare

I'm looking into getting more space in my trunk by taking the spare and the windblocker out and replacing the spare with a can of tire foam. I know this is already being done in a lot of cars straight from the factory and probably a lot of you had already done this. But I'm kinda skeptical on the tire foam and I haven't used it personally. For emergency purpose, does it really work?

I have the greenslime kit in mine , the products work only on small holes like a nail or screw , but not a tear in the tire

Porsche issued a TSB on the 986 Boxster (which shares the same front end as the MKI) on this point. They stated that the spare tire is part of the frontal crash safety system. You probably should leave it in...
