Brake rotor direction

Take a look at this picture - more specifically the orientation of the slots on the brake rotors. Shouldn't the rotors be pointed the other way for maximum brake gas clearance using centrifugal force? I have seen a lot of cars with the slots pointed in either direction - forward (as depicted in this picture) and backward. Just wondering which, if any, is better for maximum performance since I am sure both work just fine.

I think most rotors are marked L or R if the direction matters.

Its more about what direction the vanes inside the rotors are designed, more so than the direction of the slots/cross drilling. New PCCBs are like this as well. (2010 GT3)...Not affiliated with the website on the photo, it was the first photo I came across with the new PCCBs
