Considering a 996 C2 Aero

Well, I have been on and off on the idea of selling the S2000 for a 996 or the new elise(on order), but lately I have been leaning towards the 996. The prices have dropped for earlier models and I can pick up a nicer 99 for mid 30's and save 10k over the elise that is supposed to be here in a few months. I am a porsche guy at heart and have been racing porsches since I have been able to drive. Are there any concerns with the 99's that I should worry about? Also what aftermarket warranty companies have you guys worked with that would cover a used 996? Thank you for any info in advance! I am hoping to join the 996 scene soon.

My 99 is doing fine. For a piece of mind, purchase it from a Porsche dealer and they should give you a 2 yr warranty. It might be a little more expensive than ebaying it but there is a price tag for a piece of mind.

I'd shy away from the '99 and step up to a 2001 w/ PSM and eThrottle.

I actually prefer the eggshell lights on the narrow body 996. Not too crazy about the '02 aesthetics.

The Tequipment aerokit makes the 996 Carrera (i.e., one of the best looking 911 models to ever exist). Stock Carreras look pretty lame in comparison.

Especially when lowered on 19" deep dish wheels.

I love the S2000. Great, fun ride. More fun than a 911, IMO.

Good luck,
Ben
