spoiler dash switch

Just wondering if anyone had tried transferring the wiring from the left footwell and using this switch on the dash to manually raise and lower the rear spoiler.

did this mod several years ago. as mentioned by function12, there are several writeups on it in renntech including one from kirby in this forum. the mod is pretty straightforward. Fyi, you will need to wire in a separate a power source (maybe from another switch in the panel) in order to illuminate the switch at night.

good luck!

Thanks! A search is in order. I'm a member of renntech as well but I hardly go there.

It never really made sense to me why the earlier cars had the switch by the footwell in the first place. I guess it never really made sense to the Porsche engineers either as they located in the dash on later cars.

If you perfer to have the spoiler up most of the time, just raise it up then take the fuse out. Thats what I have done. I only put it down when getting a carwash.

No need to remove the fuse to leave the spoiler up. Just put it up manually using the switch and leave it as it is. This thread is about how to make the switch more easily accessible from the driver's seat without bending down.

It won't stay up permanently when you put it up manually. Drive it, turn the car off once and drive it again and you'll see.

Leave it down. Where it is supposed to be.

Not in my car. I don't know about your cars, but my car in particular leaves the wing up until I use the switch to put it down. Doesn't matter if car got turned off several times. It just stays up until I use the switch to put it down. Previously did this a couple of times already and it is consistently this way with my car.

I did this mod and used a footwell light switch beneath it that light up when the spoiler is raised, either by the switches or the speed control. Footwell light switch also toggles the ODC functions (at least until I install the 4-stalk switch on the steering column.

I used a modified switch with spoiler illustration from an ebay seller in Germany. The LED lights up when the spoiler is raised thru both ways. When the spoiler is in the process of raising up or down, the LED is supposed to flash but my indy who did the install said that the LED flashed together with the signal light (indicating he must've made an error in the wiring). Right now as it stands, the LED doesn't flash while the spoiler is going up or down but just lights up when the spoiler is in the final up position. Any ideas on where my indy might have gone wrong in the wiring?
