has anyone upgraded their V1 to enable POP protection?

can anyone explain in simple terms what POP protection can do for us in Orange County? Do we need it around here?

I guess for new models it cost around 60.00 or something like that and 2 weeks turnaroudn time to send it and get it back from Valentine.

I can't answer the 'whether or not you need it in OC" but, I have done the upgrade to one of my 3, to see for myself. The police here have not used it on my yet :-). Their upgrade route seems to be laser. Hopefully a V1 upgrade with laser shifting option like the Passport will make it's way to production.

I just got mine back. It cost $55 plus shipping (mine is 1.5 years old), and they ship it back less than a week after receiving it. My understanding of POP radar is that it goes on and off very quickly so you don't have any warning (as opposed to instant-on radar, which goes on quickly and then stays on for a while). Here's a link:

Don't know which area police departments use it, but I saw it as cheap insurance in case I run into it.

Cool Me too ...

Just upgraded my V1 to POP coverage over the holidays .... my was $55 plus tax since I live in Cincinanti and picked it up myself

Other than when it powers up and you see the P..O...P on the display, it has not detected anything to this point. Time will tell.

Waste of money. You can probably beat the ticket in court if POP was used. Read the website page that Poursha provided.

Assuming you're right, how much is your time worth--and that's assuming you'd get off. I'd rather not spend half a day at the court house.

Ditto...I sold old one on ebay, it went for $370! Then I bought the new one for $399. Plus, I spend no time without my V1!

We're talking about the POP upgrade. I for one, love my V1. It's saved my *** a zillion times.

Most Police units won't use it because it won't stand up in court. It's a waste of time and money for the Police to show up in court for something that is not worthy and proven. Like I say, it's waste of money.
