If performance is not you concern, Adjust out the negative camber all around and you will get 20,000 out of any tire.

Of course if performance is not a concern sell the 996, buy a civic and you will get 80,000 out of most tires. My wife has a Taurus Station Wagon that has 78,000 on the original tires and they still have lots of tread left.

I'm on my second set of Vredestein Sessantas. Great tires for about $850 a set.

The tire shop recommended the TR1 because they have a softer sidewall than the PZeros that were on the car and finished. He was right, i like the ride improvement, and they have very good grip. Quiet too.

My Pilot sports are very noisy. Good handling and a relatively quiet tires are what I am looking for. Not sure if that combo really exist.

I guess it is a split decision between the Hankook and Sumi. Not sure how much the Toyo cost, and I will look into that to see if they are in the same range as the Hankook and Sumi.

Just before I changed mine, I tore the sidewalk of my SUV on a curb, so I went with the Sumi's due to stronger sidewalls. After 3,000 miles they seem to be doing good.

To make a fair comparison about ride, performance and ESPECIALLY noise, you have to compare new-to-new. When you take a used tire off your car and replace it with new, the new ones will nearly always be quieter and feel "better". Once the tread is more than 60-70% worn, a lot of the noise supression sipes and angles built into the pattern is gone.

I've been through just about every tire you can put on a 996 C4 or Turbo, and the verdict is still out. Right now I'm using the Hankook V12s and they are a very good tire, but not as good as a Conti or Michelin. But the hydroplaning tendency of the Contis wasn't my favorite thing. PS2's are good but never really loved them. I don't even remember all the different ones I've tried, but at the end of the day, like I said I haven't decided what's best. For strictly dry traction I'd go with the Contis probably, but I wouldn't buy them again for a rainy climate.

If they ever offer the BFGoodrich KDW 2 in Porsche rear wheel sizes that will be my next tire. Best tire I've ever used (ran them on my modified STi).
