PSE HACK by FD Motorsports
I just got the pse hack done locally at a good muffler shop for $50 . sounds great. It was using just aluminized steel ,i didn't want to wait for a stainless u bend, but i painted the new pipe with exhaust paint to be sure of no rust. I dont see how any local muffler shop could not do the job. Just take them a picture of a modified muffler. i took the mufflers off myself, about an hour job since it was my first time, much quicker going back on. it took the shop about an hour to get it done. It is a noticeable difference with throttle input , nearly stock cruising and at idle.
What was the OD of the pipe you used?
FWIW, the FD Motorsports modification is not the same as the PSE hack. The PSE hack welds a pipe into the same location as the OEM PSE, but it doesn't have the controls to open and close a valve like true PSE. It is always "on". This system partially bypasses one of the three muffler chambers, allowing for a better sound.
The modification by FD Motorsports welds a pipe in a different location - between the muffler intake and exit pipes. This modification partially bypasses the entire muffler, not just one chamber. Therefore, it sounds a little different from the PSE hack, and a little different from true PSE.

+1.... PSE and hack sounds diff.
The hack has a growl.... PSE has a bark (ala gt3 sound).

the internals are 2 different designs.... thats why they sound different, even though they may look the same (minus the valve).
Where did you get that info from?
Any diagrams or pics showing the differences?

I have seen pics of a PSE opened up.... of course I dont know where, and the same with stock 3.6 mufflers. Never saw them side by side opened up.... but the real give away is the sound... I have PSE and have a friend that has the hack.... side by side, they sound different... PSE has a different chambering sound than the hack.... the sound is proof enough for me. Like I mentioned, the hack has a growl, PSE has the bark.

I went the FD route and in my opinion it has some bark to it. For $225 you cannot go wring. If you like it, then it is the beast ROI on $225 spent on your car. If you don't, then it only cost you $225. I am extremely satisfied with mine.

for the same level of performance (Read: ZERO) and about the same sound.... I would be defending it like nuts also.....
