Help needed : Becker radio stuck in PHONE mode
Help needed : Becker radio stuck in PHONE mode
Last week I picked my car up from the shop that did the RMS, IMS upgrade, and a clutch (Eurasian Auto Service in Birmingham, AL, if anyone is looking for a good shop). They had told me they needed the radio code. I didn't remember it, but said I'd bring it with me.
When I picked up the car, the radio was prompting for the security code. I entered it and the radio came on. I drove a couple of miles and switched it off. On the drive home, I switched it back on an the display would only say 'PHONE'. No other option was available.
When I got home I refreshed my memory on how to get into the user menu on the becker radio. I pulled the fuse for the radio, then started again with the code entry. While the radio was on I went through the user menu and switched off the phone option (menu accessed by holding the down arrow for more 8 seconds). Next time I turned the radio on, I was once again stuck in 'PHONE' mode.
I've repeated this twice more. Switching off either the car or the radio means it will not work next time. It's more than an inconvenience to have to pull and replace the fuse every time I want to use the radio.
Anyone encountered this before?
Thanks,
Woody

I think the problem is resolved. For the benefit of anyone else down the road, the problem was a loose plug on the back of the radio. I'm using a PIE ipod adapter that plays using the AUX inputs on the radio. I think someone may have pulled the radio out enough to loosen the plug. I re-seated it and all is well.
