996 Middle Console Refurbishing

I got a 2001 996 cab and some scratches on my middle console including hand brake cover. Would hate to buy a new one. Anyone here with experience painting these parts or other ideas? What kind of paint? My mechanic said VHT Vinyl Dye might work. Issue is that some scratches are deep so I would need to fill 'em first I guess.

Second item would be how do you guys clean your cabrio canvas (Sonnendecke). I have some stains and I know they come off but I don't know which cleaner to use. I tried a small spot with liquid soap and that spot is now lighter than the gray canvas.

Thanks to you all.

Congrats on the new ride...

For the console, best bet is to either buy a new one... or better yet, have it painted by bumperplugs.com (and get some bumperplugs while you are at it.)
Lots of guys on here have used them and you'll hear nothing but praise.

u can wrap it yourself with flat black vinyl or that 3d carbon fiber vinyl some of the guys use. if u dont like it, just repaint later.

For the cabrio spots try Afta for spot cleaning and then clean with Formula 303 cleaner and then brush on Formula 303 Fabric Guard. The reason I do not use Raggtop is that it is in a spray can formula and then you have to tape off the paint seperate from the fabric on the cabrio top. The High Tech Formula "303" comes in liquid spray form, which you pour into a small can or plastic container, and is easily brushed on with a foam paint brush. Apply the Fabric Guard liberally completely soaking the top, let it dry for 24 hours ( or do not get it wet for 24 hours). you will see some crystallization on the top which is easily brushed or washed off. Now you have a good looking top with SPF 40 for sun protection and fading. Make sure that you use the Formula "303" water replellant for fabric/canvas... not the vinyl product.
