Hello fellow members,

Has anyone had any experience with chromeing their HRE's? I'm pretty fed up with taking care of polish rims. Personally, I prefer chrome. I was thinking of having Wheel Technique chrome them for me but they recommended that I repolish them again. For some reason when you chrome HRE's they seem to weaken the rim. Is this true?

 

one reason i did not go for HRE and picked Techarts silver. I hate cleaning the polish. It's a nightmare. i had it in my old BMW, and ended up re-polishing it and then sold the car ....

 

Mine are polished, and I haven't had a problem maintaining. What kind of prob's have you had? Are you talking about the wheel centers, or the rims?

Give HRE a call and ask what's involved and relate your concerns. I'd doubt any reputable wheel company would offer a finish that weakens their wheels.

 

High polish was a nightmare on my first set of HRE's, hence why I went with chrome on the 2nd set... Very overpriced and took forever, but I am very happy that all it takes is a wet rag to get them looking like this!!:
