Makar, thanks for sharing your story with us, real or fake it was well noted. Although some of us here might not take their mother along for ride, I'm sure you'll be the subject of many stories your mother will tell her friends...

I know I took my mom for a spirited drive ONCE in a supercharged NSX 0-70MPH on an open highway with no cars around.....KEY word....ONCE,LOL!
I do not think she would get in the Porsche now......

When my mom was 80, I put her on my SeaDoo and took her around the lake.

She tought it was so cool.......!

 

Great story .................. with my wife in the car, usually can't wait for her to fall asleep so I can drive without the reminder to slowdown.

 

Yeah, me too until the max speed alarm goes off which was programmed by the previous owner at 70mph. I gotta reset that one of these days.

If you're going to speed make sure you're in a car that's designed from the ground up to go fast, not just modified. that's why i love german cars; they are built for the autobahn. i would never go over the speed limit in a honda or jap car.

 

great story! and a one! my 78-year old dad's voice would start rising whenever i reach 45mph (on a 35 which is just 10 over the city limit)! LMFAO!

 

I did 80 once with my grandma!

 

I can't even do 15mph with my mom in the car. When I first got my 4s I took my mom for a ride and when I gave it a little gas she tried crawling out the passenger window! That is no lie!!!! After that she would pass when I asked if she wanted to go for a ride with me. My girlfriend wont even let me get over 20mph. She screams at the top of her lungs. Only my dad likes getting on it with me. Could be because he owns a 944 and respects Porsche and its speed and handling!

 

well put i cant stand the way some people try and act all prim and proper like they never broke 55!! Unless you can honestly say that there wasn't one occasion where you thought the road was clear enough and safe enough to down shift and hit it a little then dont judge other people, i have a m6 with some mods done to it and to get to 150 from a hwy speed is less that 15sec at wot then back to normal speeds, keep it safe out there everyone!!!

 

The negative replies remind me of a recent article in one of our local papers... A guy wrote in that he regularly went 15 kph over the speed limit on a certain stretch of road, but he was really annoyed that someone passed him. They have since painted a double line on that road and, although he still speeds, he is happy that those "idiots" don't pass him anymore. He considers himself a "smart" guy - the people who speed a more than him are the "idiots".
