Spring Rating

I have a 99 996. Suspension - H&R coilovers with front and rear sway bars. What springs should I use? This is a track car only. The car also has been lowered considerably. I want them to be as stiff as possible. I have some bounce in the car since lowering it. I want it to be stiff. I have seen the 700 - 1000 lbs springs. What do you guys think????
Thanks
Al

If this is off the shelf H&R units and you are looking to replace them with higher spring rates, you'll also need to get them properly revalved to match the springs unless you want an underdampened car. But it sounds like already that you have some dampening issues if your car is bouncing already.

If it's a track car, you'll definitely want to corner balance it and by the sounds of it, I'm assuming it isn't properly corner balanced either.

Bilstein has custom revalving services in Cali for around $85/piece if you had Bilsteins but not sure for H&R's.

Simple things like corner balancing/sports alignment/optimum tire pressures/proper sway bar settings/driving classes can go along way than just upping the spring rates imo.

Thanks, the car has been corner balanced and aligned. I think I might of lowered it too much. The car was stiff before lowering it. I guess Im going to have it done again. I thought the springs were a bit loose. Its hard to tell what type of springs they are but Im guessing they are red H&R's. Im going to try to get the numbers off them tomorrow. I bought these from someone who said they were PSS9's but he sent me these then disappeared!!

I'm assuming you corner balanced it after you lowered it? If the car was stiff before you lowered it, you probably took out a lot of preload afterwards.

Well after bringing the car back up about 2 inches, the car is back to normal. I guess I might of lowered it too much. Thanks for the info and help!!! Also, I'm starting a new thread on an email I received about "Ram Electric Supercharger".

Usually I see a lot of people with coilovers "dumping" their cars at the sacrifice of taking out some amount of preload. Common mistake and glad I can help.
