Question Engine conversion

Can a 2004 996 engine be installed into a 2002 car?

They are both MK2 3.6L isn't it?

Engine change

Both are 3.6 but the 2004 has what looks like a fuel return fitting on the drivers side fuel rail, the cam sensor on the 2004 has 2 wires and 3 wires on the 2002, there is also a vacume pot on the passenger side fuel rail not on the 2002.
