engine not responding well

lately i've been having this problem with acceleration. if u put heavy gas, the car hesitates to rev or sometimes have no power and has a bubbling sound. but if you release the pedal and gas it back or play with the pedal it will gradually gain revs. MAF sensor, coil pack gone bad?

It could also be the fuel filter. How many miles on the car?

It could be as simple as 1 bad coil. The last time it happened to me, I fiddled with the gas pedal (while it was happening) to make it worse (yep - worse). At that point the car gave me a code. The code told me which pack was bad (misfile cylinder #). I replaced that coil and everything was wonderful once again. Diagnosis is really tough if you don't have a code to work from.

car has 43K miles. i will swap over my friend's MAF and see if that's the problem. I thought about the fuel filter before so I'll change that aswell and go on from there. the engine is healthy just power not coming through.
