Yeah but the C4s Cab came out in 04, because my roomate has an 03 C4 Cab and they werent making 4S cab, so did they make both C4 Cab and C4S Cab on 04?

I drove both Cabs(an 03 C4 and an 04C4s), and felt the regular C4 much faster. My service manager told me this was because the 4S is much heavier because of the turbo body

 

Yes, they made the C4, at least according to the Porsche website all the way up until the 997 was released.

 

u could get them & it was still being made world-wide just not too many made the way here.

 

If you think the narrow body C4 feels faster than the C4S, try driving a C2 back to back with a C4S. To keep it an apples to apples comparison put the factory sport suspension option on the C2 since the C4S has an upgraded suspension over the narrow body.

 

So what is the verdict was it just my imagination or is the C4 Cab faster than the C4S Cab?

I think it was your imagination. The excess weight of the widebody is probably not much at all. they will handle pretty much the same, but the C4S has bigger brakes. So it stops a little better.

 

Actually the slowest 996 is a C4S cab with a tip. why, because the C4S has to drag alot more extra weight around than a narrow body, that being said, the wider track and upgraded brakes and suspension make for a very well balanced car. It's a tradeoff. I personally would not buy a C4 narrow body as I like the faster C2, but if I was looking for a 4 wheel drive sports car, short of a turbo 996, the C4S would be it.

If I recall correctly, here's the list of fastest to slowest 996 varients 2003-2004 models(Stock trim) and yes I know some drivers can make a tip faster around the track than others but I'm assuming same driver who happens to actually know what he/she is doing.

The c4 was always produced in '03,'04, just special order only in the US bc of the popularity of the c4s. They are quite common in Europe.

 

I thought there is no C4 for the US after the 4S came out....

That's what I thought as well, until my friend showed up with his special order '03 c4 cpe about a month after I got mine.
