Vinyl Wrapping Question

I've been searching around and I think I've decided that I'm going to wrap my car. I was also planning on changing the front and back bumpers to be more aggressive.

Can I wrap the new bumpers unprimed or unpainted? I'd really like not to have to spend another $1k on having them painted, then wait 90 days before I could wrap the car.

I've been searching around for the answer, but have been unable to find information on this question. I was just curious if anyone else has come across this information

Oh, fyi- a few good friends of mine (including myself) are mechanically adept when it comes to working on cars so we figured we would tackle the wrap ourselves.

Wrapping a car is like body work. It's an art not a science. No real mechanical expertise required. You can't do much damage (unless you get too careless trimming the wrap panels after they are on). There are plenty of horror stories of guy having the wrapping taken off only to find razerblade lines in the paint. Wrap material have some minor tranparency, so primer bumpers may not match the rest of the car after you wrap it. Since your going to wrap them anyway, you can get by with bumper medic to paint them. Save your mechanical talents for suspensions swaps, DV values, boost hoses etc. More rewarding and less frustration.

Ahh, I have some of the samples from 3M, my car is black metallic, but I was going to wrap it matte white. I couldnt tell that there was any amount of transparency (the white was white when I applied the sample to the car) Then again, I had nothing to compare it to.

I was just trying to figure out if I could save the money, and the time from having the need to prime or prime and paint them then wait 90 days for it to cure before I could wrap the car.

Thanks for the reply

So Disclaimer first, I've never had my whole car wrapped before, also never wrapped on unpainted surface. Having said that, I do have experience with fiberglass, (given that a majority of our parts are made from fiberglass).

Having said that, I don't see why not. You probably want the bumpers to be prepped like as if you are getting it painted so the surface is smooth and when wrapped you won't get an ripples. Other than that I don't see why not.

Let me know if you are interested in any our our bumpers.
