Trunk Light Issue?
Trunk Light Issue?
Hi Guys,
I have a 2001 996 Cab. Battery has ben continually running down for months and required frequent charging. Battery was replaced less than a year ago which has had me scratching my head. Through a process of elimination I discovered that the trunk light is not turning off when the trunk lid is closed closed. Confirmed by placing video camera in trunk and closing it. Factory alarm engages without issue and no interior lights are illuminated however the trunk light will not go out. Obviosuly this is causing continual draw on the battery. Has anyone run into this before and short of disconnecting the bulb does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks,

I believe the front trunk latch is what controls the trunk light. It may be out of line. Or, it may need lubrication. I would begin with a shot of WD40 or silcone spray to assist the front trunk lock procedure. Other then that, there may be a short in the trunk light unit. Just my three cents (inflation). Good luck.
